Giving back to community
- Knowledge Transfer Program (KTP)

The KTP project was a University Social Responsibility (USR) initiative funded by Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS. Its main aim is to support the inter-generational transmission of language and culture of the Kayan Indigenous communities in Baram, Sarawak. It also serves as a meaningful way to give back to the community in recognition of their longstanding support for earlier research and documentation efforts.

Documentation works described in this website were primarily funded by the Endangered Language Fund (ELF) Language Legacies project. ELF has made significant contributions to the preservation of the Kayan language and its cultural heritage.

Three workshops were held in 2023:

1. Tekna - oral tradition

2. Nyivan - dance

3. Na kirep - learning how to make kirep
