While much efforts have been put into editing, and checking the materials in the website, it is in no way perfect, and exhaustive. Visitors, and especially Kayan visitors, are welcome to contact Dr Roselind for clarification, if any.

Short note on transcription of tekna

The transcription and translation of the tekna was done by Dr Roselind Wan with the help of Margaret Lohong Wan.  Formulaic phrases and descriptive metaphors are the mainstay of the tekna, and we have tried to adhere closely to their meanings and nuances as much as we could. We may not be able to adequately transcribe and translate them in their original pure forms and we apologise for the limitation.

More works need to be done so that we can benefit from the richness of the Kayan culture and language.  Understandably, the Kayan language has not been sufficiently described and this website contributes to the dire need for preservation and documentation of the language.  Even more critical is the slow disappearance of the Kayan oral tradition especially the tekna among the Kayan.
